Admission, payable at the door, includes a raffle ticket for the chance to pick the FIRST postcard that evening. Participating artists attend free.

Postcards From the Edge is a Visual AIDS benefit show and sale of original, postcard-sized works on paper by established and emerging artists. All works are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The works are signed on the back and exhibited so the artists' signatures cannot be seen. While buyers receive a list of all participating artists, they don't know who created which piece until purchased. All proceeds support the programs of Visual AIDS.

Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving the legacy -- because AIDS IS NOT OVER!

New York City 1985 By Corinne Bunzl

Paris-based photographer, Corinne Bunzl, recently exhibited a number of her black and white prints from New York City, circa 1980s at the Studio Harcourt benefit for Cancer Research in Paris.  This is one of her works – four good friends, working cigars and the side walk on the Lower East Side.  It sold along with several others of her prints.  This print is in an edition of 7.  Enquiries: Contact Corinne Bunzl.

New York City 1938

From the "One-Third of a Nation" series, New York City by Arnold Eagle and David Robbins, New York City Federal Art Project, May to August 1938. National Archives, Records of the Work Projects Administration (69-ANP-1-2329-325).

New Deal photographers were instrumental in exposing the human pain of the Great Depression to a wider audience. Their images of rural and urban poverty, which were sometimes manipulated for political and artistic effect, laid bare the economic exploitation of farm workers, uncovered poor living conditions in city tenements, and put a human face on the Depression.
