Ben Evans: Thrift Store Paintings

These works take found paintings and add a certain je ne sais quoi to them, giving these pieces a new exciting narrative.  Evans takes his cue from thrift store genius Jim Shaw (who installed hundreds of his thrift store finds at Metro Pictures in New York City in the 1980s) and makes these works his own. PROJECTIVE CITY IN PARIS

Projective City is a new curatorial project devoted in part to bringing the work of exceptional emerging artists from New York to Paris through both conventional and experimental exhibitions, and also to developing unusual projects that blur the lines between cultural producers and consumers. This campaign is for the support of four exhibitions taking place in the fall of 2011 (now!).
